Cheapest AI Music Generator: What Each One Really Costs Over 3 Years
The cheapest AI music generator over three years depends on how much music you make. At list prices on 14 October 2026, the cheapest cloud plan with a commercial license, ElevenLabs Starter, costs $180 over 36 months on yearly billing. Suno Pro, Mureka Pro and Udio Standard each cost $288, and the $30-a-month tiers cost $864. A one-time local app like Song Creator Pro costs $49.99, plus a few dollars of electricity a year, as long as you already have a suitable Windows PC. If you only make a handful of songs for fun, a free tier costs nothing and is the cheapest of all.
Monthly prices hide the real comparison. A $10 plan sounds cheaper than a $49.99 app until you remember that it charges you again every month. This article adds up what each option costs over three years, counts how many songs you can actually keep for that money, and includes the costs a one-time price leaves out (electricity, hardware and your time). For a per-song snapshot of 14 tools, see our AI music generator pricing comparison.
How We Counted
- Prices are each service's list price on its official pricing page on 14 October 2026, in US dollars unless noted, before tax.
- Three years means 36 monthly payments, or three yearly payments on annual billing.
- Songs you can keep means songs you can download, not songs you can generate. On some services the two numbers are very different.
- We assume no price rises, though prices can change a lot in three years (more on that below).
- One-time purchases include electricity at 18 cents per kWh, roughly the average US residential rate in 2026. Check your own bill, since rates vary widely by region.
What Each Plan Costs Over 36 Months
| Tool and plan | Monthly billing (36 payments) | Yearly billing (3 payments) | Songs you can keep in 3 years | Cost per song kept (yearly billing) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Song Creator Pro | $49.99 once | $49.99 once | Unlimited | Gets lower with every song |
| ElevenLabs Starter | $216 | $180 | ~400 (about 33 min of music a month) | ~$0.45 |
| Google Flow Music Starter | $288 | $216 | ~21,600 | ~$0.01 |
| Suno Pro | $360 | $288 | 720 (20 downloads a month) | $0.40 |
| Mureka Pro | $360 | $288 | Up to ~18,000 | ~$0.02 |
| Udio Standard | $360 | $288 | 0 (downloads disabled) | No song can leave Udio |
| AIVA Standard | ~540 euros | 396 euros | 540 (15 downloads a month) | ~0.73 euros |
| ElevenLabs Creator | $792 | $660 | ~1,600 | ~$0.41 |
| Google Flow Music Plus | $864 | $648 | ~72,000 | ~$0.01 |
| Suno Premier | $1,080 | $864 | 2,160 (60 downloads a month) | $0.40 |
| Mureka Premier | $1,080 | $864 | Up to ~72,000 | ~$0.01 |
| Udio Pro | $1,080 | $864 | 0 (downloads disabled) | No song can leave Udio |
| AIVA Pro | ~1,764 euros | 1,188 euros | 10,800 (300 downloads a month) | ~0.11 euros |
Notes on the figures:
- Suno Pro is $10 a month, or $8 a month billed yearly, with 2,500 credits and 20 downloads a month. Premier is $30, or $24 billed yearly, with 10,000 credits and 60 downloads. Unused downloads don't carry over to the next month.
- Mureka Pro is $10 a month or $96 a year for 5,000 Gold (up to 500 songs a month). Premier is $30 a month or $288 a year for 20,000 Gold (up to 2,000 songs). The same Gold also pays for text-to-speech and extras like stems and videos, so if you use those you get fewer songs.
- ElevenLabs Starter is $6 a month or $60 a year for 30,000 credits a month, and Creator is $22 a month or $220 a year for 121,000. Music costs 900 credits a minute, and the credits are shared with ElevenLabs' voice products. The song estimates assume 3-minute tracks.
- Google Flow Music lists Starter at $8 a month, or $6 a month billed yearly, and Plus at $24 a month, or $18 billed yearly. Its credits buy about 600 and 2,000 songs a month. Its pricing page doesn't state commercial rights.
- Udio Standard is $10 a month or $96 a year for 2,400 credits, and Pro is $30 a month or $288 a year for 6,000. Downloads have been disabled for every user since October 2025, so no Udio plan gets you a song you can take off the platform.
- AIVA Standard is 11 euros a month and Pro 33 euros a month billed yearly, plus VAT. AIVA's pricing page shows only the yearly prices; billed monthly, the plans have cost roughly 15 and 49 euros a month. Only Pro lets you own the copyright.
Two things stand out. First, the plans fall into two groups: high-volume services (Mureka, Google Flow Music), where each song you keep costs one or two cents, and services that cap downloads or minutes (Suno, ElevenLabs, AIVA Standard), where each song costs 40 cents or more. Second, every subscription on the list costs more than $49.99 within its first year, and most do within five months.
Pay for AI music once, not 36 times. Song Creator Pro runs on your own Windows PC with unlimited generations, no download cap and a commercial license that doesn't depend on a subscription.
When a Subscription Costs More Than a One-Time Price
On monthly billing, this is the month in which each plan's running total goes above Song Creator Pro's $49.99:
| Plan | Monthly price | Costs more than $49.99 by |
|---|---|---|
| Suno Premier, Mureka Premier, Udio Pro | $30 | Month 2 |
| ElevenLabs Creator, Google Flow Music Plus | $22 to $24 | Month 3 |
| Suno Pro, Mureka Pro, Udio Standard | $10 | Month 5 |
| Google Flow Music Starter | $8 | Month 7 |
| ElevenLabs Starter | $6 | Month 9 |
On yearly billing it happens on day one, since every annual plan above costs more than $49.99 up front: $60 for ElevenLabs Starter, $72 for Google Flow Music Starter, and $96 for Suno Pro, Mureka Pro and Udio Standard.
That doesn't mean the one-time purchase is always cheaper. It means the answer depends on how many months you would actually pay for, which the scenarios below cover.
The Costs a One-Time Price Doesn't Include
With a local app, some costs that a subscription service covers become yours. Here they are.
Electricity
Song Creator Pro uses your own GPU, so you pay for the power. We assume the whole PC draws 350 watts while generating, which is on the high side for a mid-range gaming PC. One hour of generating then uses 0.35 kWh, which costs about 6 cents at 18 cents per kWh.
| Generating time | Per year | Over 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| 2 hours a month | ~$1.50 | ~$4.50 |
| 10 hours a month | ~$7.60 | ~$23 |
| 30 hours a month | ~$23 | ~$68 |
Even if you generate for an hour every day, three years of electricity comes to about $69, or around $120 with the purchase included. That is still well under three years of any $30 tier. Rates vary a lot by region, so use your own.
Hardware
This is the largest possible extra cost. If you already have a Windows PC with a recent NVIDIA graphics card, it is zero. If you don't, add the price of a card to Song Creator Pro's total. YuE2 needs an 8 GB NVIDIA GPU (AMD support is experimental), and ACE-Step 1.5 runs on 6 GB cards or, more slowly, without a GPU at all. For example, a $300 graphics card plus the $49.99 app comes to about $350. That is less than three years of a $30 tier ($864 on yearly billing) but more than three years of a $10 tier ($288 on yearly billing). Our GPU guide covers which cards work at each budget.
Your time
Cloud tools need no setup. Song Creator Pro installs like any Windows app, but you choose the models and settings yourself. Running open-source models such as ACE-Step 1.5 directly is free but takes real hours of Python setup, a trade-off covered in the best open source AI music models.
Cheapest Choice by Scenario
| If you are... | Cheapest over 3 years | Approximate 3-year cost |
|---|---|---|
| Making a few songs for fun, for personal use | A free tier | $0 |
| Doing one project a year that takes about a month | One month of a $10 plan each year | ~$30 |
| A creator publishing 10 to 20 songs a month, with a suitable PC | Song Creator Pro | $49.99 plus a few dollars of electricity |
| Making hundreds of songs a month, with a suitable PC | Song Creator Pro | $49.99 plus electricity |
| Making hundreds of songs a month on a Mac or phone | Mureka or Google Flow Music, billed yearly | $216 to $864 |
| Needing a few minutes of commercially licensed music now and then, without a suitable PC | ElevenLabs Starter, only in the months you need it | $6 for each month you use it |
When a free tier is enough
If you make music occasionally and only for yourself, don't pay anyone. As of 14 October 2026, Suno's free plan gives 50 credits a day but no monthly downloads, only 7 trial downloads per account, for personal use. Google Flow Music's free plan tops up your credits daily. ElevenLabs' free plan includes 10,000 credits a month, about 11 minutes of music. Mureka's free plan gives up to about 4 songs a day on its older V7.5 model. None of these allow commercial use, so they stop being an option as soon as you want to earn money from your music. Our guide to free vs. paid AI music generators compares what each free tier includes.
When a cheap subscription wins
Subscriptions win when you only pay for a few months in total. If you finish one project a year, paying for one month of Suno Pro or Mureka Pro ($10) in each of the three years costs $30, less than $49.99. They also win if you don't have a Windows PC: Song Creator Pro doesn't run on a Mac, Chromebook or phone, and cloud tools run in any browser. And if you would have to buy a graphics card just for music, a $10 plan on yearly billing ($288 over three years) can cost less than a new card.
Two habits quietly make subscriptions expensive: forgetting to cancel between projects, and paying for a $30 tier when the $10 one would do.
When a local app wins
A one-time purchase wins when you would otherwise pay for more than about five months of a $10 plan, want to keep every song you make, and already have (or were going to buy) a capable Windows PC. That describes most YouTubers, podcasters, game developers and producers who use AI music in their work. After the purchase, your thousandth song costs the same as your first: a little electricity. There's no download cap, and the commercial license doesn't depend on keeping a subscription.
The Hidden Three-Year Risk: Terms That Change
A three-year total based on list prices assumes each product stays the same. Recent history suggests it may not:
- Udio disabled downloads for every user, including paying subscribers, in October 2025. See how to download Udio songs.
- Suno introduced download caps on 3 September 2026 that also apply to songs made before that date, and retired every model before v6 on 9 September 2026. See Suno deleted every model before v6.
Neither change lowered the price. Both reduced what the same money buys. A local app has its own risks (you depend on your hardware, and on the developer for updates), but nobody can remove a model or a download button from a program installed on your PC.
Where Song Creator Pro Fits, Honestly
Song Creator Pro is $49.99 once on the Microsoft Store, with a free trial, or $44.99 on itch.io, without one. It runs ACE-Step 1.5 and YuE2 offline on Windows and includes Generate, Remix, Revise, Layer and Extract tools, seed, guidance and batch controls, MP3, FLAC and WAV export, a commercial license and lifetime updates.
It is not the cheapest choice if you make a few songs a year, if you would need to buy a GPU just for this, or if you work on a Mac or phone. It is the cheapest choice by a wide margin if you make music every month on a Windows PC you already own. For more on the one-time model, see AI music software with a one-time purchase. If your Mureka plan has just lapsed, Mureka trial over? Mureka alternatives with no credits or daily caps covers the switch.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you make a few songs a year for personal use, a free tier, at $0. For regular use over three years, a one-time purchase like Song Creator Pro ($49.99 once) is cheaper than any subscription, if you have a suitable Windows PC. Among cloud plans with a commercial license, ElevenLabs Starter is the cheapest at $180 over three years on yearly billing, but it covers only about 33 minutes of music a month.
As of 14 October 2026, Suno Pro costs $360 over 36 months on monthly billing or $288 on yearly billing, for 720 downloads in total (20 a month). Premier costs $1,080 or $864 for 2,160 downloads (60 a month).
Mureka Pro costs $360 on monthly billing or $288 on yearly billing ($96 a year), for up to 500 songs a month. Premier costs $1,080 or $864 ($288 a year) for up to 2,000 songs a month.
Yes, if you would otherwise pay for more than about five months of a $10 plan in total. A $10 monthly plan costs more than $49.99 by month five, and a $30 plan by month two. If you only need music for a month or two a year, a short subscription is cheaper.
If your PC draws 350 watts while generating and power costs about 18 cents per kWh, an hour of generating costs about 6 cents. Ten hours a month adds up to roughly $23 over three years.
Not necessarily. Song Creator Pro's ACE-Step 1.5 model runs on 6 GB GPUs or, more slowly, without a GPU, and YuE2 needs an 8 GB NVIDIA GPU. If you have to buy a card just for music, add its price to the comparison: the total can still be less than three years of a $30 tier, but may be more than a $10 one.
Among the plans we checked on 14 October 2026, Mureka and Google Flow Music, at roughly one to two cents per song if you use the full allowance. Suno and ElevenLabs work out at around 40 to 45 cents per song you can keep, because of download caps and per-minute pricing.
The prices are the same ($10 and $30 a month, or $96 and $288 a year), but Udio has had downloads disabled for every user since October 2025, so three years of Udio gets you no songs you can take off the platform. Suno includes 20 or 60 downloads a month.
